In 1983, Mr. Schaufeld founded N.E.W. Corp. (“NEW”) (now NEWAsurion Corp., where he is currently Vice Chairman) with a $79 investment.NEWAsurion is now the world’s largest consumer product protection company, employing over 12,000 people throughout the globe.
In 2006, Mr. Schaufeld founded SWaN Investors (predecessor to SWaN & Legend) with Tony Nader and Cliff White. Mr. Schaufeld sits on the boards of Fund investments American Honors College, Capital Sports Ventures, CustomInk, Kind, Social Radar, Jose Andres’ Think Food Group, and Treater. Mr. Schaufeld is an advisor to Allegro Venture Partners and Order Groove. He is a partner in Monumental Sports and Entertainment, the owner of the Washington Wizards, Capitals and Mystics, as well as the Verizon Center, and a partner in the Washington Nationals. He is an Executive Producer of the soon to be released film “Breakup at a Wedding.”
Mr. Schaufeld is a recipient of Ernst & Young’s “Entrepreneur of the Year” award. Under his leadership, NEW was recognized by Inc. Magazine in its “Inc. 500” list of the fastest growing private companies. Mr. Schaufeld is the patent holder of the Rigid Insurance Form. Mr. Schaufeld is a member of the Economic Club of Washington, DC and the World Presidents’ Organization. He is a Founder and past President of the Service Contract Industry Council (SCIC). He has lectured to business groups and colleges. He has been quoted extensively in numerous publications; and has appeared on CNN and NPR.
Mr. Schaufeld and his wife, Karen, live in Virginia and are active in organizations dedicated to early childhood development, literacy, health, environment, peace and the arts. He sits on the boards of a number of non-profit organizations including: Fight for Children and the One Voice Movement. He is a member of Venture Philanthropy Partners and is an active supporter of the Schaufeld Family Heart Center of the Inova Loudoun Hospital and the Fredrick D. and Karen G. Schaufeld Lower School of Loudoun Country Day School, Leesburg, VA.
Mr. Schaufeld received his BA in Government from Lehigh University.
